Looking for a new home in these trying digital times

Every website I've ever called home appears to be on the verge of collapse at the moment, so I'm exploring some new options. I can now be found on Bluesky (@/kanonavi.bsky.social) because my fandoms are unfortunately too new to have much of a following here, but since I've been influenced to have some older-fashioned sensibilities by certain lovely friends of mine, I wanted to give this place a try too. Looking forward to exploring Dreamwidth more going forward!

So I have no idea what the comment etiquette is on this site and thus am really sorry if I come across as rude or weird, but I'm trying to revive my old blog here and looked around for other people who like Genshin when I found your account. As a fellow Venti and Xiaoven fan I just wanted to say hello! It's just such a good ship, I love those two dearly. :3 So yeah, uhm... sorry for intruding. oTL

No worries about comment etiquette, I'm also very new to it here lmao. Thanks for saying hi though!! There are already so few Genshin fans here on DW and the only other xiaoven fan I know of as of right now is my friend Hua (huafeihua) so it's super exciting to know there's another one of us! :D

It's really so different from most other sites like twitter or tumblr, it almost feels like barging into someone's private space. But while DW sadly doesn't have a big Genshin community yet, I'm happy to learn there's at least a few of us, and even some xiaoven fans. I miss those two boys dearly. Wish we'd get another scene of them meeting in-game.

I know, the couple of times that I've commented on someone's posts I've been worried about coming off like a weirdo, but it's kinda the only way to interact, so we just have to try lolol. I really miss xiaoven too tho ugh... The poetry gala feels like it was only yesterday but also so long ago and not just because I only got the fic I wrote for that event done like two weeks ago *cough* I'd love to see Venti there for another Lantern Rite but I feel like we're probably just gonna have to hold out for another interaction... I just miss Mondstadt and Liyue in general, they're still my favorite regions.

Ooh, I need to check out your xiaoven fic! :3 My muse for them has sadly been bludgeoned by Hoyo and their pushing Xiao/Traveller so hard recently (no offence to anyone, I just personally really don't like that ship :/). I'm desperate for some inspiration to write my favourite Genshin ship again.

But yeah, I totally agree with you. Mondstadt and Liyue are my favourite regions too, and I'm dying for a Mondstadt expansion.

I'm not a big fan of Xiao/Traveler either, I'm not a big fan of most traveler ships really, so whenever they seem like they're waifu-ifying Xiao a bit I just do my best to look past it lol. Xiao is one of the best character's mhy has done imo, so I tend to just take all the little moments of him being more outgoing as a sign of his growth, even if it's directed towards the traveler. I also can't really deny that the traveler has been an important part of that growth and that it's understandable that Xiao would see them as a close friend, I just don't really feel compelled to explore that friendship most of the time since it's kinda the same depth of friendship that the traveler has with most of the rest of the cast lmao. I hope you find inspiration to write for xiaoven again, though! Their characters are just so fun to explore...

If they keep teasing Dornman Port and not releasing it I'm gonna lose it I swear aaaaaa... As much as I love Mond, it really is the least interesting region geographically, so I'd love to see what they do with a Mond expansion after all the map design they've done for Inazuma and onward.

Totally agree with you. I'm also not really into any Traveller ships because I find their character quite boring tbh. I do think Hoyo could have done more to show us Xiao's growth. It undoubtly happening and I'm proud of him, but I do wish they'd show him interacting more with the other adepti and humans instead of just clinging to the Traveller like that. Oh well, I know it's a me problem, so I should stop whining.

Fontaine (above water) is what Mondstadt should have been. When I first set foot into Fontaine and saw all the pretty flowers and bird, even though I immediately loved the scenery, I was also a bit sad. Because Venti would want his nation to look like that too. Or rather, I'm sure it would look like that, but Hoyo will never update the old zones. :/ Let's hope Dornman Port will be beautiful!

Unfortunately, I feel like with the size of the cast these days, it's really hard for mhy to actually give older characters the attention that they deserve, which does make a lot of sense but it also why they haven't been able to focus on Xiao as much. Like with Lantern Rite this year, they were trying to focus on Gaaming, Xianyun, Ganyu, and Shenhe because they were shiny and new or had new outfits, so some of the characters like Xiao were kinda relegated to a cameo. (And then they brought in the Fontainians for the epilogue for some reason?? I still can't stand that choice to this day tbh). That's why the poetry gala was so delightful to me, because it focused on a lot of characters that don't get a lot of spotlight most of the time (Diona, Chongyun, Noelle, Mika, etc.), and I just wish that mhy would do events like that more often when we just get to hang out with characters from past regions.

Sometimes I kinda feel like they put too much Fontaine in Version 4 even though it's the Fontaine version, we barely even saw Sumeru outside of Cyno Part II and the Inazuma event was painfully short, plot-wise. All of which is a long-winded way to say that I do wish we could see Xiao interacting with other characters more often, but I feel like the size of the cast is also to blame. We still get scraps though, I'm gonna hold the moment of him and Chongyun interacting close to my heart for a long time, I've been hoping to see them interact for literal years and it was more than I ever could have hoped for <3
